In response to nation’s recent deadly fires, NFPA encourages personal responsibility for safety in public buildings

The fires that occurred this past week in Oakland, Calif., Cambridge, Mass., and Gatlinburg, Tenn., reinforce that fires can happen anywhere, anytime and with deadly consequences. As people enter public places this holiday season, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is strongly encouraging everyone to be well aware of their surroundings to best protect themselves in the event of a fire or other emergency.
