Fire safety center is an attention getter

A blank wall has become one of the liveliest spots at the Hillsborough Township municipal building in New Jersey. After enduring some budget setbacks, Hillsborough Township Emergency Services recently completed a fire safety education center, which includes displays on candle safety, electrical safety, and the Wall 1importance of having working smoke alarms and testing them.

Fire Marshal Ryan Giordano says that because the display is adjacent to the library and senior center, it gets seen by hundreds of people each day. Sparky the Fire Dog sliding down the fire station pole gets the attention of children.

The video message board and items in the display cabinet will be updated regularly. Plans are underway to expand the project.
