Fire Prevention Week message presented in American Sign Language

title

By Lisa Braxton

NFPA has produced an American Sign Language video for Fire Prevention Week (FPW) 2015. In the video, which includes a voice-over and open captioning, the public is reminded about the importance of having working smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the home, including the basement.

Information is provided on smoke alarms and alert devices for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. The video is one of many tools the fire service can use for FPW campaigns, other fire safety presentations, and reaching those at high risk for fire deaths and injuries. The video also appeals to a general audience.
