Couple loses two grandchildren in Christmas Day house fire
By Fred Durso, Jr. Christmas Eve for Irv and Cathy Bailey went according to plan. The night started with a nice dinner with their two sons, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren, Solon and Liam, 10. Then there was a reading of the “The Night Before Christmas” and even a brief piano recital by Solon, 12, before the boys were tucked into bed. During the early morning hours, first came the “beep” of the smoke alarm, then the sight of flames, then a full-blown fire. The children were trapped upstairs.
