Sprinkler ordinance repealed following homebuilder’s lawsuit

By Fred Durso Seven months after the Estero Fire Rescue District passed a life-saving ordinance to sprinkler its town’s new homes, it has decided to repeal it. As reported on this blog, two homebuilding associations in Florida filed a lawsuit challenging the ordinance, claiming it will createimminent harmto their business. The fire district passed the ordinance in October 2015 following an economic impact study countering this claim. Cependant, a potential legal battle with the associations led to the fire district’s commissioners unanimously repealing the ordinance in April, states the Naples Daily News.
